WC Cares: Servant Leadership, Community-Focused

Making Holiday Dreams Come True

Our Kelowna, Vernon, Kamloops and Penticton teams in British Columbia, Canada, recently raised $27,000 and were able to donate 220 Bikes and Helmets to 220 children. These children will now be waking up to a brand new bike on Christmas morning!

Due to COVID restrictions, the districts were unable to gather as groups to build bikes this year, so they got creative! Take a look at our employees and their families building and assembling these bikes from home. Way to go team!

Feeding the Community

Our team at Mountain Waste & Recycling in Colorado partnered with Lift-Up, a local non-profit that provides food for families in need to provide canned goods for their organization. Great job coming together to help make a difference in your community team!

The WCN Veterans S.E.R.V.E. Network

Support, Empower, and Retain Veteran Employees. Empowered WCN veteran employees formed to honor, appreciate, and assist in the development of fellow veteran employees in an effort to repay the sacrifices they made for their country.

Together We Are Better

Our team and Arrow Sanitation in Portland, Oregon, provided a generous $5,000 donation to the Coalition of Communities of Color, an organization whose mission is to address socioeconomic disparities, institutional racism, and inequity of services experienced by families, children and communities.

EJ, Our Hometown Hero

Meet EJ, a 4 year old boy from Seguin, Texas. He is on our frontline employee Eli's Friday recycling route. Like most kids, EJ loves to see the big truck in front of his house each week. Upon learning about EJ's terminal cancer, Eli and the team at his site decided to "Adopt" EJ by providing presents and a police escorted ride along opportunity.

EJ, it is people like you and your team that help bring positivity and kindness in today's world.

Star of Hope Drive

Members of Corporate Office and Southern Region teams recently had the opportunity to partner with the @starofhope. The organization received 286 coats along with various sets of hats, gloves, boots and men's business wear. During the holidays and every day

Thankful for You

In the spirit of Thanksgiving, our corporate office in The Woodlands, Texas, had the opportunity to donate an entire toter full of non perishables and canned goods to the @montgomerycountyfoodbank. It's a privilege to give back to the communities in which we service and live.

Blessings in a Backpack

Our team at Thunder Bay in Ontario, Canada, is working to help their community in a big way! During the holiday season, they are partnering with 4 schools within their local school district to feed students in need through the program Blessings in a Backpack. These donations will go directly to each school and help provide snacks or easy to prepare meals for these families in need. Thanks to our team for showing how much #wasteconnectionscares about the communities in which we serve.
